Sacred Seven is a 2011 Japanese science fiction anime television series produced by Sunrise under the direction of Yoshimitsu Ohashi and written by Shin Yoshida.
Before we get started I just want to let you know that this is just a first impression of the the first episode of sacred seven so judgement is going to be based off of very little and I will try to be as open minded as possible.
The series begins with the main character Tandouji Arma, in his house scribbling on a map. I’m not sure how many people noticed or thought about that map but I saw a swastika sign and he was filling in a river with what seemed to be a red color pencil. So that set the whats going on meter off in my head. This series starts off fairly fast paced leaving tons of questions about whats going on, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
The animation was really nice I thought, especially the fight scenes as they seemed very fluid. The character design for the different armor suits he wears were pretty cool. I thought that it was really cool when he was going berserk, and I really like the sash being able to grab the bad guy, pull him over and just bash his head in. His non-berserk form also looks really cool, not in a dark way but more of an heroic sense and he looked less covered up by armor. The one cool feature that I really liked about the suit was the different holographic symbols that popped up around his eye that rotated like a revolver, it seems as though each symbol has a different power.
To sum everything up it has good character design and animation, especially during the fight scenes. It is hard to judge the plot after only one episode, but there is nothing that really turns me off at this point. One aspect that does turn me off would be the organization of little girls in maid outfits. They even have snipers laying in tall grass wearing maid outfits….Seriously?
I think the animation and fight scenes alone will probably warrant some more time invested. Lets just hope they keep the 12 year old girls and maid outfits to a minimum.
